Questions & Answers
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions ans answers
FOR FAMILIES
1. Why does Amelie Care only facilitate recruitments for contracts longer than 6 months?
Answer: We prioritize quality and continuity. For a child's development, it is essential to build a stable and secure attachment with their caregiver. A long-term commitment is also a more sustainable solution for the family, both financially and logistically, compared to frequent short-term recruitments.
2. What does "anonymous recruitment" mean and why do you use it?
Answer: In the initial stage of our recruitment, the candidate's name, age, gender, and photo are hidden. This ensures total equality: the selection is based purely on the applicant's education, work experience, and pedagogical expertise. It removes unconscious bias and ensures you get the best possible professional for your family.
3. How do you ensure the reliability and safety of the candidates?
Answer: Safety is our core value. Every candidate is required to have a relevant professional qualification (e.g., Practical Nurse, Social Worker, or Bachelor of Education) and a clean, up-to-date criminal record check. We conduct a thorough pre-screening on your behalf.
4. What support do we receive if challenges arise in the cooperation between the employer and the employee?
Answer: Amelie Care is committed to supporting a successful partnership. Should any challenges arise in your daily cooperation that require outside perspective or support, we can refer you to specialized experts within our network. Families can arrange remote consultations (available in English and Finnish) directly with these independent experts on a self-funded basis.
5. Why does Amelie Care handle all communication in writing?
We prioritize written communication to ensure high-quality service and to prevent any misunderstandings. By documenting all agreements, instructions, and changes via email or formal documents, we guarantee that every agreed detail remains verifiable for both parties at all times. This policy is strictly maintained for the protection of both the family and the employee, ensuring that the cooperation remains clear, consistent, and reliable from start to finish.
FOR EMPLOYEES
1. Why must I commit to a contract of at least 6 months?
Answer: We value your professionalism and want to offer you stability. A longer contract allows for a true international life experience, full immersion into the language and culture, and the opportunity to build lasting friendships. Most importantly, it is in the best interest of the child's well-being.
2. What if I am nervous about my English language skills?
Answer: That is completely normal! The most important things are a genuine desire to work with children and the courage to communicate. Language skills improve rapidly in everyday situations, through play with children, and by meeting other nannies. Families value your warmth and expertise more than perfect grammar.
3. How are my working hours and holidays determined?
Answer: Working hours and holidays are always agreed upon individually in the employment contract with the family. Amelie Care recommends responsible working hours (max 48 h/week) and regular holidays so you can visit your home country and recharge. Your well-being is a prerequisite for a successful and long-term placement.
4. What support will I receive if I experience homesickness or challenges in a new country?
Answer: You are not alone. You can contact us with a low threshold if anything is on your mind. We help you find local networks (such as social media groups or popular meeting spots) so you can find friends and hobbies. Should any challenges arise in your daily cooperation that require outside perspective or support, we can refer you to specialized experts within our network. Workers can arrange remote consultations (available in Finnish and English) directly with these independent experts on a self-funded basis.
